Brittany's Story
Brittany grew up in the Midwest, but uprooted to the West to attended & graduate from Utah State University. She was an avid runner and ran Cross-Country and Track at Utah State. She fell in love running and the mountains of Utah … and years later her husband. She became paralyzed at 21 years old and is a t12 incomplete SCI. Brittany is constantly finding ways to adapt and live with grit, gumption, gratitude, grace and growth.
She loves spending time together in nature and by herself at Target. She’s married to a giant Barbie doll version of Ken, but his name is Trevor and it's much harder find accessories for his long feet, arms, hands and torso. Currently, Brittany is employed by her two darling children William (4) and Olivia (2). In her free time she cleans food off the floor, poop off of couches and diapers, and picks up/moves random toys and clothes around the house, while trying to keep them alive, loved. She even tries to attempt teaching them to be kind mini humans who clean up toys and dishes after themselves and use Kleenexes and toilet paper. She even enjoys the occasional Sesame Street or Bluey show.
Brittany loves to be active and outdoors stretching, hiking and swimming. She also enjoys eating food by herself, after her kids are in bed, while watching Parks & Rec or Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Her current favorites vary from açaí bowls, mediterranean salads, mini wheats to Oreos and air-fryer s’mores - yes, you should try that last one. She tries to be a good (maybe average) human, friend, driver, wife, mother and advocate, as she raises awareness, encouragement and education for those with differing abilities.
